Dear Singapore Goju-Kai Karate-do Club membership.
Goju Ryu Karate-Do was founded by Chojun Miyagi Sensei who was born in Okinawa in 1888. He introduces Goju Ryu to Japan in 1935 at Ritsumeikan University.
This name Goju Ryu Karate-Do was introduced to Singapore by Maekawa Hidehiro Sensei in 1968. Following on from his proud work, I spent two more years teaching there. After this period, the Singaporeans members from that time had continued to teach up to this day 35th years on. These days Goju Ryu has become popular all over the world. Every year in August, countries gather in Japan for the Annual JFK Goju Kai competition.
Unfortunately this year the International countries could not attend because of the SARS virus problem. It is my wish to keep a strong friendship between myself and all the Singaporean members who love and work so hard to spread Goju-Ryu Karate-Do in Singapore. We wish to welcome not only new members but also former members who wish to return, our doors and friendship are always open.
Congratulations must go to the Singapore members on reaching this milestone of 35 years.
